10/27/25 – Due to the recent and abrupt closure of Baker & Taylor, the Boundless app is being discontinued. In the coming weeks, the entire collection will be migrated to a new, sustainable platform: the Palace Project app. We understand this is a very fast transition, but we thank you for your patience and understanding.
The transition schedule is as follows:
Effective immediately: You are no longer able to place new holds on the Boundless App. Also, please note that any outstanding holds and checkout history in the Boundless app will not transfer to The Palace Project app. We recommend making a list of any pending titles you have on hold.
Sunday, November 2: This is the final day you can checkout any titles on the Boundless app.
Monday, November 17: The Boundless app will stop functioning and be retired. The collection transfer will begin to the Palace Project app.
Tuesday, December 2: The new Palace Project app will be available for you to download, log in, and enjoy
the collection again. We will share further information as this date approaches!
10/15/25 – We recently learned that a book vendor serving public libraries, Baker & Taylor, will be closing down by the end of the year. This closure will impact our ebook and audiobook app Boundless, because it is a product of Baker & Taylor.
While the Boundless platform currently remains intact, new titles cannot be added. In the coming weeks, our collection will transition to an alternative platform, which is to be determined. Please stay tuned to our this space and our social media channels for further updates.
Access thousands of ebooks and audiobooks for all ages from your own device on Boundless with your CAPL card. You can search for specific titles or view curated carousels and content based on your reading activities and interests. The My Shelf feature is a personalized page for all of your checkouts. There is a limit of 5 checkouts and 5 holds per card.
The whole family can get involved in reading. Once you download the app or use the web version, you can create up to five user profiles within your account and sign up all members of your family with teen and kid-friendly experiences if you wish.

To get started:
- Search for “Cary Area Public Library” and select it from the drop-down list
- Tap on Cary Area Public Library
- Enter your library card number and pin associated with your account (if you’ve never changed the pin, it would be the last four digits of the phone number you supplied upon library card sign-up)
- Tap Sign in
- Search for and checkout a book
