CAPL mobile app update

8/7/25 – Our mobile app has been updated to include some new features. Existing users will only need to update the appnot uninstall and re-install it for the new features to take effect. For new users, you can find the download links below. Read more about the current features of our mobile app.

Here are a few things to look for once you’ve updated:

  • After updating the app and opening it for the first time, it may ask you if notifications from the Cary Area Public Library are allowed. This is a setting on your phone, not the app. If you allow push notifications from the app, you will get notified of hold availability and any fees, if applicable.
  • Next, you should see a pop-up asking what alerts you would like to receive from us. Alerts related to emergencies (weather-related closings, etc.) are required for all app users. The other two types of alerts, “Event update” and “Service alert,” are optional. Choose your preferences and tap “Save” in the upper right corner. Any alerts you opt in for will only appear when you open the app.
  • Lastly, you will need to re-input your library card account barcode and password (and any other family members’ card info) in the My Account section.

Existing users will notice the new browsable book carousel at the top of the home screen to help you decide on your next read, the addition of the Web Printing service link to the home screen, more detailed information on checkouts, and an overall better user experience.
